Gabe is 5 !!!

Gabe had an Indiana Jones birthday party, and of course in Gabe form, he dressed up like Indy.

My boy is 5!  How the heck did I get a 5 year old?  This kid never ceases to amaze us.  He is an "Gung Ho" kid, and what I mean by that is he will try anything and he will totally immerse himself in his new interest. He is sweet and thoughtful beyond his years and is sensitive to understand any situation at hand.  He is responsible and an over the top great kid.  I couldn't ask or pray for more.  I sometimes can't believe that he is 5, not only because he's a big boy, but because of his maturity.  Speaking of big boy, he is 47 1/2 inches tall and 62 lbs!  Crazy!  He endlessly makes us laugh our heads off at some of the things he says such as, "Dad, when I grow up I want to be bald just like you."  We post these hilarious quotes on Facebook and call them Gabeisms and he has quite a fan base that responds back in laughter.  He quotes movies like he created them himself, loves any weapon ever made, is a pretty good little athlete and just a plain and simple awesome boy!

We had his party at Bounce It Up.

We had to remove the beard for bounce time but he definitely wore the sweat well.

Gabe and his best buddy Chase chowed down and little did Gabe know, Chase was a surprise overnight guest that night!

The birthday boy in the birthday chair.  (His beard was put on once again, and the lady that ran the place offered to do it for me. . . . .SO she decided that putting vasoline on first then mashing coffee grounds ALL OVER was the best idea . . . Indy had stubble people so oh well)
Mike and I made his cake again to look like the Lego Indiana Jones game.

The fun really began when Chase came home with us!

The next day was Gabe's actual birthday so we took him to Red Robin for dinner.

{Malia} Month 8

Malia was 8 months old on the 11th of April.  (Yep, I'm a little late on this one and will soon enough be posting her 9 month pictures very soon)  As you can see from this picture, these two are two peas in a pod and love being around one another.  Gabe is still trying to understand that if Malia grabs his hair, or his paper which accidentally rips, etc, that she is not doing it on purpose. Once in awhile we see the sibling rivalry pop out, but about 99% of the time, they make each other laugh and love just being brother & sister.

Malia's nickname is Bright Eyes.  Everywhere we go people comment on her eyes. She knows how to flash those huge baby blues and bat her eyelashes.  And, she's already a bit of a comedian.  She will fake cough and look at us expecting us to pretend to cough back.  Or she will see Gabe and give him a growl/grunt/yell at him and he'll do it back of course.  It will go back and forth until she wins by being the loudest.  Another fun little trick that she plays on me is getting in her walker, zooming through the kitchen to steal the towel off the cupboard door and races around the island to the living room where she can hide out to chew on the towel.  She has such a sweet and calm disposition and I love her to pieces!

Spring has definitely not come around yet, but any ounce of sunshine, we head outdoors.  We met some friends at a local park and Malia got to swing for the first time, the higher the better!

We actually had two nice days in a row, and one where it was warm enough that we could kick our shoes off.

Our first sign of Spring!

Malia went to her first birthday party for her friend Valerie who turned two and her baby sister, Kate who is just four weeks younger than Malia is laying next to her at the party.

Malia has been sitting up for awhile now but is working on standing while holding onto things.  She's getting more sturdy but those little stick legs still need to beef up.  I take her to the gym with me everyday but so far it looks like she's doing more cardio than pumping iron.

Malia loved coming to the outing with us and watching all of the kids.  She LOVES other kids and gets so excited to play.

Everything goes in the mouth.

Once in awhile I take my kids to Starbucks for a date.  Being a mommy is the best!

Kate came over to play and these two sat toe to toe just playing with all of these toys for probably 15 straight minutes.

Any ounce of sunshine, we are there!  I carried her highchair out so that I could feed her while Gabe and I played in the sun.

That face!  She makes me M.E.L.T.

Baseball

Baseball season is upon us. . . whether the weather likes it or not.  Gabe is playing Coach-pitch this year and he is one of the youngest kids on the team.  He's also one of the biggest on the team, which the oldest boy will be turning seven soon and Gabe is right behind him.  He's working so hard and has plenty of room for improvement but he's doing alright and working hard.  This team is so fun.  There are six coaches including the head coach, and they all grew up together, all had a boy as their first child and all six boys are on the team.

Gabe's first time wearing catcher's gear made us so proud and so excited.  We both love the catching position because you have to be tough to play there.  All the kids get a crack at it, but the coaches love having him there.

Bunches of Stuff

Each month I am required to host or attend an outing for my students.  This one was at Eastside Gymnastics and the best part is that I get to take my kids.  Gabe participated with all of the other students and loved it.

Gabe is Mr. GungHo!  This boy will get an idea in his head about something and want to dress up, go on an adventure with all of his gear, etc. He read a book about dinosaurs and of course he geared up and we went on a dig in the pouring rain.  We THINK that he dug up two bones.(They were really sticks that looked similar to a bone)  But we had fun pretending and getting wet.

My two boys are the most creative ever.  As you may have noticed from previous posts, they can make something from nothing.  And what did they come up this time, a knight shield of course.

Again, this kid wanted to be an Indian with his mask and spear.  He knows that this is not how Indians dress nowadays, but he loves to pretend. . . . and yes Indian is an okay term for those who are PC. ;)

Working hard on his reading and writing each day.

On ONE of our nice days that we've had this Spring, we took off and went to the beach and yes, my boys built a fort.

I LOVE these guys!
