New Gear!

We took the Gabester to buy his first pair of baseball pants, cleats and mit!!! I can't believe the day has finally come when we're going to be watching our little stud play on his first team. We had fun picking out his new gear and his daddy had to make sure it was all, "quality." I admit, I'm as much of a gearhead as he is, we LOVE new gear! Get this, his shoes even have various colored inserts for the Nike swoosh so that the shoes can match the uniform. I once had a coach tell us, "If you look good, you play good." I whole-heartedly believe in this! :0) We tried everything on when we got home, later put Gabe to bed, and relaxed on the couch with tears in our eyes.......we just can't believe that this stage is already here! Look out T-ballers!

Valentine's Day in Victoria

I don't believe that Mike and I have had an official Valentine's Day in the 6 1/2 years that we have been married. Basketball has been our excuse, GO MUSTANGS! Unfortunately, this season, basketball allowed us to share Valentine's Day together...fortunately....unfortunately? Mike surprised me with plans to go to Victoria, Canada for the weekend. We left at 5am on the 14th, caught a ferry and off we went, kidless. We had a yummy breakfast down by the water, toured the BC Museum and watched the "Undersea" at the IMAX, walked to the parliment building and shopped a little. If you notice the picture where I look as though I'm feeding the deer.....Mike wanted to take one of me scratching the top of a bear's head. He kept telling me to get closer, and closer, when we heard a high-pitched whining sound throughout the museum. I'm such a sucker! I set off an alarm! A little embarrassing so I blamed it on a little kid that walked by when the security guard sauntered over to call off the troops! :0) We spent the night in a lovely hotel and enjoyed another day walking and shopping and touring a gorgeous castle. Thanks hubby!

Dart Guns

As Gabe gets older, his toys keep getting better and better! His dart guns have brought many laughs to our home. From army crawling, to hide-and-go-seek: military style, Mike and I love playing with these even more than Gabe!

Chop! Chop!

We finally decided to do it......we chopped off Gabe's golden locks! Aaaauuugghhhh! I know . . . . what were we thinking!?! We just got really tired of his hair looking messy. We could brush it and then the next minute he looked like a neglected child.

He now looks like a totally different little boy! We picked him up from Sunday School this morning and hardly recognized him. He now looks even more like the three-year old that he'll be in a few months. Unreal!

I have to tell you a funny little story. A couple of weeks ago, Gabe had been getting up out of bed every few minutes to go to the potty, needed a drink of water, etc. So after trying to discipline him for this we decided to try another route. Now, if he successfully completes the night in his bed, then he can put a fish sticker on his chart the next morning. So, after a few rewarding and complete nights of sleep, Gabe had a relapse and climbed into our bed around 5am. As 6am rolled around, we all woke up and I took G to the potty. He's standing there and asks, "Mama, can I put a fishy sticker on my chart?" I ask him in return, "Well, did you come into mommy and daddy's bed last night?" "Yeah." "Are you supposed to do that?" And, our little smarty pants replied, "Well, I asked God. And, at first he said, no, no, no. Then I asked him again and he said it was okay. God said I could come in your bed." I just about fell over thinking....okay Lord, how the heck do I parent around THAT?!!!

Oh Man! #1 ~ Last but not least, most of you saw the quad injury when he split open his eyebrow. Well, then our little tough guy got a royal floor burn! He was running behind & pushing a little firetruck at his school when the linoleum and the carpet met, the truck stopped and G kept on going.........on his FACE! He had a nasty floor burn right up his nose.

Oh Man! #2 ~ After both of these incidents, we had to take him to the ER on a Friday night after a major bummer of a basketball game that Mike got ejected out from......that's another story! Somehow, at the end of the night, I went to put Gabe's coat on and he fell to the floor crying. As most of you know, it takes quite a bit of pain for this little tough guy to cry at all. He cried all the way home, he cried for another 45 minutes while we were at home. And, he kept telling us that his elbow hurt, but was pointing to his wrist/forearm. We checked it thoroughly, and couldn't detect a thing. After icing it, and Gabe not wanting to move it at all, we took him to the ER. We had X-rays and found nothing. The doctor asked if we thought it might be his elbow. We told him that was what G was complaining about, but he'd point to his wrist. So, the doc stood him up, took off the sling which was a huge painful deal right there and began to straighten out Gabe's arm. He screamed and started to fall to the floor and Mike caught him. After tweaking his arm around, he said that he felt a pop and he believed that he dislocated his elbow. We had to let him walk around for awhile, but when he did, he schmooozed the nurses for popsicles, bags full of stickers, etc. They just loved on him! He gave them kisses and hugs and we were on our way. I tell you though, between the scar on his eye, the rugburned nose and a dislocated elbow, I felt like that doc was watching me like a hawk! Sooooooo, please!!! Someone please buy our house so that we can move closer to the hospital!!!
